Our reception - part 2
We wrapped up our photo shoot at our wedding venue about 30 minutes before our guests were to arrive. I put the finishing touches on our tables together with my parents and my brother and then went upstairs again for our reception. Because the weather was so bad (it was pouring outside) and it was taking our guests longer than usual to get to our venue, the reception actually lasted about two hours instead of one. Luckily the people from our venue were really nice about it. It was even them who suggested extending the reception to give our late guests a chance to have a glass of cava and enjoy an appetizer.
What I said in my previous post still applies here: it's entirely possible that these pictures won't capture your attention, but I didn't want to leave anything out. After all, this is our wedding series and these pictures were taken when our guests first arrived. It was so great to see everyone we love come out and celebrate with us on what was truly a rainy day. (Sad, but you know, the upside of getting married in December is that you don't expect or hope for the weather to be good... So if it isn't, you won't mind too much. If it is, like on the day of our civil ceremony, that's just a nice extra to what is already a beautiful and momentous day.)
We ended up having quite a few of these ridiculous shots...
My bridesmaids <3
My dad's aunt and uncle
My aunt/godmother and my cousin Laura (who did my hair)
Klaas's sister, Eef, and one of my mom's former colleagues' husband (are you still with me?)
Klaas's dad and my soon-to-be brother-in-law (Klaas's sister is getting married May 10th)
*stay focused for this one* Klaas's dad's girlfriend's son
*stay focused for this one too* Klaas's dad's girlfriend's daughter
In the middle is Klaas's dad's girlfriend and to her right is her future daughter-in-law.
Lien, my make-up/nail artist and my friend Evy
I think our photographer had a soft spot for Evy. There are quite a few pictures of her...
Two of my mom's many many uncles
My cousin and her boyfriend
My dad
My mom
Klaas's aunt and one of his cousins
Klaas's stepbrother and his girlfriend
Klaas's mom's aunt and her new err, friend
My friend Ilke. I think our photographer had a soft spot for her as well...
My mom with her and my dad's best friends
My friend Kirsten
Klaas's mom and Klaas's uncle/godfather's partner
My parents' best friends
Klaas's uncle/godfather
Klaas's grandma
Klaas's grandpa
My dad's friend and colleague...
... and his wife
This is one of my dad's colleagues, but other than that, I'm lost as to who this is. I included him because I think he looks jolly. :-)
The same goes for this guy. No idea who this is, but check out that cheeky little grin!
My mom's new boss
And finally, some of Klaas's colleagues:
After the reception, it was time to go downstairs and get the dinner party started.
